PostSubject: LIGHTSABER FORM IV: Ataru   Sun 17 May - 12:02

Ataru Rank 1: When using Saber Attack Skill, you gain +5 to its roll while in Ataru Form. You also suffer -5 to Saber Defense against blaster attacks. Taking Ataru Form is a free action and does not require turn. However, deactivating Ataru Form, or switching to any other Lightsaber Form requires a turn as a full action.

Ataru Rank 2: While in Ataru form, your lightsaber critical chance increases by 1.

Ataru Rank 3: While in Ataru form, your lightsaber critical multiplier increases by 1.

Juyo Rank 4: While in Ataru form, you gain +5 to your Saber Attack Skill, total +10.

Juyo Rank 5: While in Ataru form, your lightsaber critical chance and critical multiplier further increases by 1 (total by 2).

Gameplay: Ataru form allows you to counter attacks from other Lightsabers. However, gun attacks, tech attacks and force attacks can automatically hit you if you try to use Saber Defense skill against them while in Ataru form. You have to deactivate Ataru form, or switch to other defensive lightsaber form, to be able to use lightsaber against guns, tech and force. Unless class specifically gives this form, you need to learn Form I Shi-Cho Rank 3 to unlock this form.

Ataru: Form IV, also known as Ataru, the Way of the Hawk-Bat, or The Aggression Form, was the fourth of the seven forms of lightsaber combat. The history of Ataru stretched back through the Old Republic, to at least as early as the Mandalorian Wars, where it was commonly employed by Jedi of that day. Ataru continued to be a common form among the Jedi in the latter stages of the Republic, and was also known to be employed by the Sith.

An aggressive style, Form IV was fast-paced and effective against single opponents, though weaker in prolonged combat and confined spaces. Also, it was not recommended for use against opponents wielding blasters. Ataru was characterized by Force-assisted acrobatics, such as somersaults and leaping strikes, both for attack and defense. Another characteristic of the form was its fast, powerful strikes from multiple directions.
